I noticed that my 5 gallon plastic gasoline container builds up quite a bit of pressure. Anyone know the limits? Is there any danger of the container rupturing? I noticed my plastic lawn mower gas tank is the opposite and builds up a negative pressure and is indented until I open the cap??

Rupture potential of blowmolded poly is pretty minimal from fuel expansion.
I've had vent caps pop, and had the gasket on the spout leak a few times, but never a rupture.

The pressure limit is exceeded when they burst. I've had some swell pretty good, seems as when the pressure gets high enough they'll blow the cap off the spout.

When the county invaded my backyard recently. They took the fireproof cabinet that housed 3 small gasoline containers. Only the good one had a small amount of fuel in it. It had a rigid spout and a pop-off vent. They left me with the oldest one, round and stuck it up next to my house.
