We are getting a new Ace Hwd just down the road from Lowes ( which is our only other choice). Ace will be selling Craftsman hand tool, which surprised me! I would think letting somebody else sell your product would be a dumb idea? Maybe this is a way to still sell a decent product without having to buy from Sears? Or maybe the "Craftsman" product has sunk to a hardware store level?? Might be interesting to see if Ace will warrant older Craftsman tools. Oh the possibilities! Any thoughts??

Since the only store that is not over an hour drive away is Ace, I haven't been to a K-Mart in five years ... nonetheless, their "Benchtop" brand sockets and ratchets were far superior to crapsman. I have several of them that got used and abused daily for years and not a single failure. My neighbor down here, the Mustang guy, bought a set of 1/2" drive crapsman deepwell chrome 12pt sockets, with the exception of the 7/16" that never got used, the rest are stripped out. I can only take credit for wrecking the 7/8", 15/16" & 1", the 85 year old Mustang man managed to wreck the rest of them all by himself. He had the set replaced twice, third time he damanded his money back. After the first set of crapsman failed, I picked him up a cheap import set from the wholesale, that was about two years ago, the imports are still going and his other helper isn't "easy" on anything ... I never saw anyone go through as many trouble lights and light bulbs as Jack does!
BTW, FYI, Napa auto sells & services Gearwrench brand.

Crapsman is owned by Sears. Sears is owned by Kfart Kfart is owned by a bunch of summy lawyers.
Crapsman has been sold at Kfart for at least 5 years if not more.

For what it's worth, OSH or Orchard Supply Hardware stores have carried Craftsman tools for several years and you can also get Craftsman at Fastenal.

Geez Mark you sound like the old days on the original tool boards we all went through! Haven't heard the anti Craftsman rant in a while! You're joking-right? Benchtop was some of the worst Taiwan crap ever foisted on an unaware American public. I thought it was just about one step above chromed pot metal. As for Craftman well, I have a lot of it in my set and except for a few thin walled deep socets that I managed to crack I havent met the guy strong enough to wear out the rest! Heck I've stood on some of my 3/8 ratchet handles without stripping the socket or springing the ratchet. Have you been drinking the Snappy Kool-Aid again??

PTM, Good to see you posting!
Crapsman went down hill years back and kept getting worse - last I bought personally were a set of speed wrenches only because they were discounted enough to make them worth the risk and actually they're pretty decent. I got a replacement 1/2" drive ratchet that isn't worth snot, to the point where you can't tell the difference between it and the H-F ratchets as far as operation goes. Danaher was supposed be the saving grace of Crapsman but that sure didn't happen - was pretty bad when the Challenger stuff looked way better than the Crapsman. If I get some time, I'll post pictures of the wonderful replacements I got, if I would have seen the new ones before my wife gave up the old ones, I'd have kept the broken ones because they were more useful. I do have a good bit of the "old" craftsman I won't part with but I wouldn't even consider buying anything newer.
No, I ain't no Snappy-ade drinker either, they get my business on the stuff I can't get anywhere else, no doubt they make a lot of specialty stuff and when you need it, you're glad to get it. Mac can KMA, I got burned too many times, shell-out top dollar for the brand then have them deny replacement on everything ... best was when they terminated the long-term route guy without warning and confiscated his truck and all of its contents then refused to return his personal property. Then, when we didn't have a truck anywhere and needed replacements, they insisted we send them in at our own cost and charged us more than what the tool costs for "processing"!
