I haven't been paying close attention to Sears Craftsman developments so I only recently became aware that they are transitioning their hand tools like flat wrenches and sockets from made in USA to made in China. I don't know if they are still made by Danaher from factories in China or a new company altogether. While you might still be able to find made in USA Craftsman tools at some stores, once they're gone, they're gone I guess.
I realize that a lot of tool users don't particularly like the Craftsman brand but at least it was made in the USA and for the shadetree mechanic they were of adequate quality, priced reasonably and widely available. Say what you will about them but a lot of people have them. A problem now is if you happen to break a Craftsman socket, you'll now probably end up with a replacement made in China. I guess time will tell what kind of quality they have.
